Project Management (PM), a highly required profession, continues to emerge strongly in the Middle East, following global trends. The interest in the field of Project Management is increasing across all industries from Engineering, Media, Healthcare, Banks, Airlines, Real Estate and Oil & Gas and others ...
It has proven its effectiveness and contribution to the organizational bottom line. In Dubai, the UAE, the GCC, and even globally, organizations are observing the rising of talent shortages, especially with project managers and team members whom do not have enough education, training, or experience in Project Management. Further, there is an unprecedented level of construction work across various sectors, like: real estate development, transportation and infrastructure, power and utilities, oil and gas, and among others. These factors are putting more pressure on the organizations’ resources pools, which in turn forces big organization to seek professional managers to run their businesses. To address some of these challenges, SUKAD FZ-LLC (www.sukad.com) is introducing a training program designed for Capital Projects, and it’s called the Capital Projects Program (CPP).
Capital Projects are defined often as major projects that require the construction of some kind of a physical facility to complete. “This Capital Projects program is designed for all professionals, senior managers, program managers, project managers that are involved in major capital projects”, says Engineer Mounir Ajam, CEO of SUKAD FZ-LLC.
Mr. Ajam continues: “The need for well developed professionals to tackle these capital (often complex) projects is a high priority and the challenge is professionals do not have a great deal of time, hence the need for expedited development of the professionals in the industry”. To addresses the need and the time limitation challenges, SUKAD has developed the Capital Projects Program (CPP) to be spread out into two phases, with each phase consisting of a few modules that would be taken over a period of time; to minimize the interference with the participants’ ongoing jobs requirements.
To enhance the effectiveness of the Capital Project Program, SUKAD would require the participants to complete pre-class and post-class assignments in order to link the classroom training with real assignment and on-the-job activities. This way it would combine the concepts learned in an interactive class environment with a real life situations. “Learning from the mistake of others, including my own, will be evident during the workshops interactions” says Mr. Ajam.
The (CPP) program initiator, developer, and lead consultant is the SUKAD CEO, Engineer Mounir Ajam, MS, PMP®. Mr. Ajam has more than 20 years of global experience working on all type of projects, mostly in the United States, but includes United Kingdom, South East Asia, and the Middle East. His extensive experience covers capital projects of all sizes, various types of contracts (such as: reimbursable / cost plus, re-measure, lump sum fixed price), and has also been involved in numerous international joint ventures. Engineer Mounir practical and global experience will come to life in the various modules and covering stories of successful and challenged projects. The CPP first phase consists of 4 mandatory modules and the second phase consists of 5 optional modules.
The mandatory modules are:
- The Essentials of Project Management
- Project Management Plan Development
- Project Implementation and Control
- Best Practices and Case Studies for Capital Projects
The optional modules are:
- Project Leadership
- Project Risk Management
- Project Quality Management

Each of these modules will involve pre and post workshop assignments. Each of these modules will include various examples and would be highly interactive with the highly experienced facilitator. The modules vary in duration from 3-5 days.
