Course Code: AK05 Course Description: This course builds on our Human Aspects course and expands on this crucial topic for successfully managing projects. In the Fundamentals of Project Leadership we focus on the basics of leadership in the dynamic environment of projects. Although this is not a general leadership course, the tools and techniques learnt here will be useful in the non-project environment as well. In this inter-active course we will cover a variety of topics such as: the interpersonal skills necessary to distinguish a good project manager from a great project manager, the type of power for the project manager, circle of influence, various styles/types of leadership, team dynamics and team development process, the role of a leader in effective conflict resolution. We will also cover the differences between managers/management and leaders/leadership and the need for each based on the stage of the project within its life cycle. Pre-Requisite: Prefer to have a few years of professional experience and exposure to projects. Class Format: Mix of lectures, question and answer sessions, and individual and group exercises. This course could be taken independently with the Human Aspects course Contact Hours: 14 hours/PDU's
