09:00 AM - 12:30 PM
Professional development in a project management environment is becoming more and more a priority in the region for a variety of factors. Further, we often think of professional development as training or attending seminars and workshops. True professional development is more profound and comprehensive that what is stated here. The key question is how to structure a dynamic professional development program to be flexible yet comprehensive enough to deal with todays challenges of limited resources and fast rate of change?
This presentations below deals with the above questions via introducing a professional development program that could be implemented in whole or in part in a short time. The proposed program is also partially based on an actual case study where a similar program was proposed and quite a few of its components implemented effectively. The case study was an implementation at a global petroleum company. The discussion will include the principles that were followed in the development of such a program. The program major components includes: on-the-job and off-the-job educational events and training, individual development plans, frequent events for young professionals (new graduates), professional certification program, professional job-based competencies, and most importantly a mechanism to ensure implementation.
