Create Leadership Awareness and Conduct Leadership Education
Designed to help the program sponsor (often a CEO or COO) gain the buy-in of their executive team. Provides basic education that enables exec team to have its own dialogue about next steps..
Two-day, off-site course, Highly interactive. Teaches fundamentals of process improvement and the im-portant role of the leadership team.
Ensure Strategic Alignment and Identify Target Areas (Champions)
Assumes there is a reasonable good, existing strategic plan. Facilitated workshop to identify the very small number of very focused priorities of the business (max of three).
Strategic priorities are translated into specific areas of the business to target (e.g., new customer acqui-sition, yield improvement, overtime reduction).
Perform Process Assessment
An assessment of the target areas is performed to identify and scope specific improvement projects. Generally takes about one week per target area. Many projects are identified and prioritized. Process owners are identified. Training candidates are identified.
Execute Improvement Projects and Build Capabilities
Train Green Belts, Black Belts and Lean Experts. During this stage, many across the organization are training while also working on real projects delivering real results. Everything above is about preparing for and ensuring the success of projects.
