Mounir Ajam on the Stu Taylor Show
Mounir Ajam from Lebanon is on the Stu Taylor Show to discuss his new book “Redefining the Basics of Project Management”. He was born in Lebanon and was the first child in his family to graduate from college. After high school, he left Lebanon to attain higher education in the United States. He had to support himself financially as Lebanon was in poor economic conditions because of the country being in war. He graduated from the University of Houston for Civil Engineering and finished a Master of Science from the University of California. He is an entrepreneur, speaker, and author. Mounir is the senior partner and co-founder of SUKAD FZ-LLC, which is a world's leading provider of integrated Project and Process Management solutions.
Mounir has a unique approach, an effective methodology for managing projects. According to Mounir, the principals of project management are the same but in practice, some countries have higher level of maturity than others. “In most developed countries, project management is quite advanced, and in less developed countries, project management is not understood and is more of a luxury than a necessity for business”, says Mounir.
Mounir has been in engineering and project management for 30 years. He began his career as an engineer. He has purely been in project management for 24 years working in various countries. Mounir said that the first step in project management is to define the vision: implementing a plan. He says that in some cases you need to go through a project life cycle which is the process of how you take a project from idea to closure. This cycle basically assists in clarifying and assessing how well the project will go. This book is a supplement to the most popular standard in the world which is the PMI®. This book is for anyone who is interested in managing projects professionally, for project managers, and for people who have a certification.
